At The International School of Texas, learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door—it extends across our state, our country, and the world. Student travel is an essential part of the IST experience, helping students develop independence, global awareness, and a spirit of adventure.
Each year, students in Grades 2–12 embark on Trip Week, a signature experience at IST. During this week, our students immerse themselves in transformative learning experiences that blend academics, culture, and adventure. Past trips have taken Trailblazers to:
These experiences deepen inquiry, build confidence, and inspire students to see themselves as citizens of the world.
In addition to Trip Week, IST students participate in 4–6 academic field trips each year across Central Texas. Whether visiting museums, libraries, theaters, government buildings, or natural parks, these experiences connect classroom learning to real-world applications and broaden students’ perspectives.
At IST, travel is not an add-on—it is a core part of our curriculum. By engaging with the world around them, near and far, students gain the skills, empathy, and perspective needed to thrive in an interconnected global society.
Beyond Trip Week, IST families have the opportunity to travel together on an annual Family International Trip, organized by a group of Trailblazer parents. Held during the summer, this unique experience invites all IST families to explore the world side by side. Past destinations have included Peru, Mongolia, Morocco, and Thailand—offering unforgettable adventures and shared memories that strengthen our global community.
