Meet Blaze the Trailblazer, IST’s spirited mascot—native to the Texas Hill Country and a symbol of courage, perseverance, and school pride. Blaze represents the adventurous spirit of our students as they blaze new trails in learning and leadership.
At The International School of Texas, we offer need-based financial aid for Middle and Upper School students to help make our world-class education accessible to more families. The application is simple, secure, and considers more than just income—including dependents, medical expenses, and other factors.
We partner with Clarity to streamline the process, and we encourage all families to apply to see if you qualify. The Parent Financial Statement must be verified by the IRS, which typically takes 3–5 business days. Deadlines may vary by program—please contact us for a financial aid conversation with our team.

The Texas Legislature recently passed Senate Bill 2 and has allocated funding to create the Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) program. Administered by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, TEFA allows families who are accepted into the program to use state-provided education funds to pay for approved education-related expenses, including private school tuition, through the program’s marketplace.
The International School of Texas has elected to participate in the TEFA program and will accept funds on behalf of families who receive state approval. The TEFA application and funding process is managed entirely by the State of Texas. All families who wish to be considered must apply directly through the official TEFA website at educationfreedom.texas.gov. IST cannot submit applications on behalf of families, and acceptance into the program is determined solely by the state in accordance with their prioritization guidelines.
State Application Window:
February 4 – March 17, 2026
Award Notification Timeline:
Families are expected to receive award decisions the week of April 6, 2026.
Estimated Award Amounts (2026–27):
• Private school students: approximately $10,000 per child
• Students with documented disabilities and a current IEP: up to $30,000 per child
If Applications Exceed Available Funding:
Awards are distributed through a state-run lottery, with priority given to students with learning differences and to families who meet state low-income guidelines.
Important Note for Families Seeking Disability-Based Awards:
Families wishing to qualify for disability-based funding must have a current Individualized Education Program (IEP) on file with a Texas public school district before the TEFA application window closes.
All families, regardless of income, are eligible to apply. Participation in TEFA is entirely optional, and acceptance into the TEFA program does not guarantee admission or continued enrollment at The International School of Texas. All IST admission and re-enrollment decisions remain independent of TEFA participation.
