Yara Cantu – Spanish Instructor

A native of Monterrey, Mexico, Mrs. Cantu received her degree with honors in Educational Sciences and Early Childhood Education from Universidad de Monterrey. She was also awarded for her outstanding work in the humanities while at university.

A proud mother of two, you can find Mrs. Cantu and her family at cultural events in the city in their spare time. As for what is currently on Yara’s reading list, she is rereading all of the Spanish chapter books in her classroom library so that she is fresh for her academic year with her wonderful students. Her proudest moments of teaching are when students express their love for Spanish class, which they frequently do!

Mrs. Cantu was deeply inspired by her psychopedagogy teacher at university and shares this analogy as one of her lessons learned as an educator: “Popcorn is prepared in the same pot, in the same heat, in the same oil, but the kernels don’t pop at the same time. Don’t compare yourself to others; your time to pop is coming.”
