At The International School of Texas, the world is our classroom. We believe that experiential learning, real-world experiences, and meaningful travel are essential to developing curious, confident, and globally minded learners. From hands-on academic field trips to international expeditions, every experience is intentionally designed to deepen classroom learning, foster independence, and help students make authentic connections between what they study and the world around them.
Each year, students in Grades 2–12 embark on transformative journeys that take learning far beyond the classroom. Trip Week is one of the hallmarks of an IST education. Whether exploring world-class universities, conducting scientific research, immersing themselves in new cultures, or experiencing breathtaking natural landscapes, every adventure is intentionally designed to deepen academic understanding, cultivate global citizenship, and inspire a lifetime of curiosity and personal growth.
Every year, IST students step beyond the classroom for 4–6 immersive field trip experiences that transform Central Texas into a living laboratory for discovery, exploration, and hands-on learning. Concepts and lessons come to life through these curriculum-connected field experiences, as IST students explore museums, science centers, nature preserves, historic landmarks, businesses, and cultural institutions across Central Texas.
IST families have the opportunity to travel together on an annual Family International Trip, organized by Trailblazer parents. Held during the summer, this unique experience invites all IST families to explore the world side by side. Past destinations have included Peru, Mongolia, Morocco, and Thailand.
