Changes to Grade Level Terminology

Starting in the 2024-25 School Year, we will classify grade levels as the following:

  • Early Childhood (Junior PreK, PreK, Kindergarten)
  • Lower School (Grades 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5)
  • Middle School (Grades 6, 7, 8)
  • Upper School (Grade 9)

We are still an IB institution and will accurately classify grades as PYP, MYP, and eventually DP, however this change more accurately reflects our school organization and structure.

Quarters and Semesters

Starting in the 2024-25 School Year, we will transition away from a trimester schedule into a Semester/Quarter schedule. This change will affect the frequency of student progress and term reports, with term reports coming at the end of Semester 1 and the end of Semester 2. Progress reports will come at the end of Quarters 1 and 3.

Semester 1: Quarters 1 & 2

Semester 2: Quarters 3 & 4

What about P.E. uniforms?

Only Middle School and Upper School students are required to dress out for P.E. class – wearing the official IST athletic shorts from our Lands’ End store. Any generic athletic top or IST spirit shirt can be worn with the P.E. uniform shorts. Close-toed shoes and socks are required as well.

It is recommended that all students in grades 6-9 bring deodorant to keep at school as well.
