Trailblazer Senior Soccer Team Wins APSA Championship! | Jun 23, 2022

IST is proud to share that its Senior Soccer Team won first place in this year’s Austin Private School Association championship.  The team scored a resounding victory in its final game over Cathedral School of St. Mary’s with a 2-0 victory in May 2022. 

Despite featuring players from Grades 5 through 8 and competing in a division dominated by all-boys teams, the IST co-ed Trailblazer team had a steady and successful season which ultimately led to victory.   IST competes in the Austin Private School Association (APSA) against other local private schools.   

“This is a fantastic victory for this team and for IST,” said Tim Reilly, IST’s Head of School.  “This team is smart, both on and off the field, and they played an incredible season with a lot of heart.  We are so proud of them!” 

IST’s Senior Soccer Team members are Avery, Chase, Marina, Sienna, Kai, Kellyn, Trevi, Carlos, James, William, and Jackson.  Coached by Lake Travis Elite Soccer (www.ltesoccer.com), the Trailblazers focused on skills and communication above all throughout the season. 

“These players know what it takes to win – and that’s cooperation and communication,” said Dan Malnor, Athletic Director at IST.  “They’ve grown tremendously as athletes this season and this victory means a lot to them and to our community.”
