IST Launches Virtual Art Contest and Online Gallery! | Apr 07, 2020

Dear Families,

I hope your Monday is off to a great start!

As you may have heard during today’s assembly, I am hosting an art contest for all IST students and have included the info below. I initially had the deadline as next Friday, April 17, but I heard from some families that they needed additional time as they ordered a small canvas for their child to paint on. Therefore, the new deadline will be Friday, April 24. Hopefully, the additional week will help. Students may paint on canvas, draw on paper, mold a sculpture, knit a creation, cross-stitch an image…anything that makes them smile.

I selected, “WHAT MAKES YOU SMILE,” as the theme to encourage students to think about things that make them happy. I hope this will be a positive and productive way for them to express themselves.

While this is an art contest, this is also going to be made into a virtual art gallery to be displayed on our new website. All submissions will be featured in our virtual gallery. The staff will vote on their favorite piece of art and the winner’s masterpiece will be displayed on the website and also in our main office. Please scan or take a picture of the art piece and email them to Charissa at c.bates@istexas.org by Friday, April 24.
