Cheerleading

Our IST cheerleading team is the perfect opportunity for your child to take part in spreading school spirit alongside their best friends! Our student athletes can fall in love with the sport in a stress-free environment that focuses on learning and performing instead of competing. The cheerleading team is open to both boys and girls and will work on chants, tumbling, jumps, motions and stunting. During soccer season, our cheerleaders will have the opportunity to cheer for our soccer team.

Robotics

We are thrilled to add two robotics teams to IST! Our robotics teams will collaborate together to explore real-world scientific challenges, while working with motorized LEGO® inventions. Students 9 years of age and older will participate in the FIRST® LEGO® League, while students age 6-9 will participate in the FIRST® LEGO® League Junior program. Each team will attend a local expo and/or regional competitions…maybe even earning their way to the FIRST® LEGO® world expo in St. Louis! But competition is not our main objective; we’re here to explore and discover, learn about teamwork, share our findings with others, and – above all – have fun!

Our robotics team recently went to the FIRST® LEGO® League qualifying competition and came away with the most innovative robot design!

Soccer

Soccer Team (ages 9-10 or G4 and G5)
The goal of the IST Soccer Team is to help each student become the best player he or she can become whilst instilling a love and passion for soccer and good sportsmanship. Practices will be based on progressive exercises focusing on decision making, passing, reading the game and finishing.  Technical and tactical instruction will be conducted through the application of small-sided games giving all students plenty of opportunities to improve. This will be our inaugural competitive team. We will host friendly games with other schools and teams throughout the year, but the formal games begin in March

Soccer Pre Team (ages 6-8 or G1-G3)
The goal of IST Soccer Pre Team is to be enjoyable so that all students have fun! The pre team will introduce them to the sport; helping them understand the rules and playing on a team. They will receive quality coaching and learn new skills while being encouraged to play fair. This team will prepare the children for our competitive team.

Check out our Grade 2 trailblazers most recent collaborative project!

While exploring the IB transdiciplinary theme of "How We Organize Ourselves", students are inquiring into how people use measurement systems as organizational tools. During this engineering project, students were tasked with designing, measuring, building and improving a dream home for one of their stuffed animals.

Take a look at these trailblazers demonstrating the IB Learner Profile Attributes of "Inquirer, Thinker, and Communicator" as they built their dream homes!
